দেশের অন্যতম বৃহৎ শিল্পগোষ্ঠী বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপের স্পন্সরে আজ এএফসি কাপের ম্যাচে ভারতীয় ক্লাব ওড়িশার বিপক্ষে মাঠে নামবে বসুন্ধরা কিংস। আর এই ম্যাচটি অনুষ্ঠিত হবে তাদের নিজস্ব ভেন্যু ‘বসুন্ধরা কিংস অ্যারেনায়’। ফিফা এবং এএফসি-স্বীকৃত আধুনিক এই ভেন্যুর প্রথম আন্তর্জাতিক ক্লাব ফুটবল ম্যাচ এটি।
কিংস অ্যারেনায় আন্তর্জাতিক ক্লাব ফুটবল আয়োজনের এই দিনটি উদযাপন করছেন দেশের ফুটবল ভক্তরা। একই সঙ্গে এতে উচ্ছ্বসিত বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান আহমেদ আকবর সোবহান, তার ক্রীড়া প্রেমিক ছেলে সাদাত সোবহান তানভীর, শাফিয়াত সোবহান সানভীর, সায়েম সোবহান আনভীর (শেখ রাসেল স্পোর্টস সার্কেলের চেয়ারম্যান) এবং সাফওয়ান সোবহান তাসভীর (লে. শেখ জামাল ধানমন্ডি ক্লাবের সভাপতি ও ক্রিকেট ফ্রাঞ্চাইজি রংপুর রাইডার্সের চেয়ারম্যান), বসুন্ধরা কিংসের সভাপতি ইমরুল হাসান, কিংসের খেলোয়াড়, টিম ম্যানেজমেন্ট এবং বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপের সকল কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীগণ।
স্বাধীন বাংলাদেশের ফুটবলে এটি একটি ঐতিহাসিক দিন হতে যাচ্ছে। একই সঙ্গে দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার সব ক্লাবের জন্য হতে যাচ্ছে দৃষ্টান্তমূলক উদাহরণ।
বসুন্ধরা কিংসের সভাপতি ইমরুল হাসান বলেছেন, আমরা এই দিনটির স্বপ্ন দেখতাম। আর আজ সেই স্বপ্ন সত্যি হতে চলেছে। এর চেয়ে খুশি আর কী হতে পারে!
দক্ষিণ এশিয়ায় এই প্রথম কোনো বেসরকারি ক্লাব নিজস্ব আধুনিক অ্যারেনায় আন্তর্জাতিক ক্লাব ফুটবল খেলছে। বাংলাদেশের ১৭ কোটি মানুষের জন্য এটি আনন্দের ও গর্বের বিষয়। ফুটবল আবার জেগে উঠবে এবং হারানো গৌরব ফিরে পাবে বলে বিশ্বাস বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপের।
দক্ষিণ এশিয়ার দেশগুলোতে করপোরেট সংস্কৃতিতে যুক্ত বৃহৎ করপোরেট প্রতিষ্ঠানের তালিকা বেশ বড়ই। এর মধ্যে অনেক করপোরেট প্রতিষ্ঠান সামাজিক দায়বদ্ধতা থেকে নিয়মিত খেলাধুলায় পৃষ্ঠপোষকতা করছে। কেউ কেউ প্রত্যক্ষ ও পরোক্ষভাবে জনপ্রিয় ফুটবল, ক্রিকেট এবং অন্যান্য স্পোর্টস ক্লাবকে স্পন্সর করে। কিন্তু বাংলাদেশের বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপের মতো খেলাধুলার বিভিন্ন সুযোগ-সুবিধার উন্নয়নে মাল্টি-স্পোর্টস কমপ্লেক্স, ক্লাবের আধুনিক অঙ্গন তৈরিতে কোনো করপোরেট প্রতিষ্ঠানই হাজার হাজার কোটি টাকা বিনিয়োগ করেনি। এখানেই অনন্য বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপ।
এশিয়ার ফুটবল লেখক এবং বিশ্লেষকদের একটি সেমিনারে একজন ইউরোপীয় ফুটবল বিশেষজ্ঞ বসুন্ধরা কিংসকে একটি মাল্টি-স্পোর্টস কমপ্লেক্স নির্মাণ এবং সুষ্ঠু ক্লাব সংস্কৃতির ধারক হিসেবে আখ্যা দিয়েছেন। তিনি বলেন, বাংলাদেশের ফুটবলে এই ক্লাবের দায়িত্ব ও অবদান অন্যদের জন্য অনুকরণীয়। ইউরোপীয় বিশেষজ্ঞ আরো উল্লেখ করেছেন যে, বসুন্ধরা কিংস বাংলাদেশের একটি পূর্ণাঙ্গ পেশাদার ক্লাব এবং “কিংস অ্যারেনায় ইউরোপীয় ক্লাবের মতো সব ধরনের সুযোগ-সুবিধা রয়েছে”।
খেলাধুলায় রেকর্ডের বিশেষ গুরুত্ব রয়েছে। নতুন কিছু শুরু করার ভাবনা থেকেই বসুন্ধরা কিংস ক্লাবের যাত্রা শুরু হয়। ক্লাবটি ২০১৬ সালে পাইওনিয়ার লিগে শিরোপা জেতে। এরপর ২০১৮-২০১৯ মৌসুম থেকে শুরু করে টানা চারবার প্রিমিয়ার লিগের শিরোপা ঘরে তোলে। এদেশের ফুটবল ইতিহাসে এই রেকর্ড অন্য কারো নেই।
বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান আহমেদ আকবর সোবহান সব সময় দেশের ক্রীড়াঙ্গন নিয়ে ভাবেন এবং ক্রীড়া অঙ্গনকে নিয়ে তার একটি সুনির্দিষ্ট লক্ষ্য ও স্বপ্ন রয়েছে। কিংসের সভাপতি ক্লাবের দলের অনুশীলনের জন্য গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যানের কাছে মাত্র সাত-আট বিঘা জমি চেয়েছিলেন। সেখানে ক্রীড়া কমপ্লেক্স গড়তে তিনশ বিঘা জমি দেওয়া হয়েছে। বসুন্ধরা গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান খেলাধুলা শুধু ভালোইবাসেন না, খেলা মিশে আছে তার রক্তে। তার ছেলেদের ক্ষেত্রেও একই কথা প্রযোজ্য। এটি দেশের ক্রীড়াঙ্গনের জন্য একটি বড় আশীর্বাদ।
স্পোর্টস কমপ্লেক্সের নির্মাণকাজ শুরু হয় ২০১৯ সালে। সবকিছু ঠিক থাকলে আগামী বছর অর্থাৎ ২০২৪ সালের ডিসেম্বরে এই কমপ্লেক্সের পুরো কাজ শেষ হবে। এরপর একাডেমির কার্যক্রম শুরু হবে। ইতোমধ্যেই ইউরোপের তিনটি বিখ্যাত ক্লাব একাডেমিতে ফ্র্যাঞ্চাইজি করার আগ্রহ দেখিয়েছে। আশা করা যাচ্ছে, একাডেমি চালু করার আট থেকে দশ বছর পর বসুন্ধরা কিংস তাদের নিজস্ব খেলোয়াড়দের নিয়ে একটি দল গঠন করবে, এমনকি অতিরিক্ত খেলোয়াড়দের অন্য ক্লাবের কাছে বিক্রিও করবে।
বসুন্ধরা কিংস তাদের নিজস্ব এই অ্যারেনায় প্রথম প্রিমিয়ার লিগের হোম ম্যাচ খেলে ২০২২ সালের ১৭ ফেব্রুয়ারি। প্রথম দিনের ওই ম্যাচের মধ্যবিরতিতে ‘বসুন্ধরা কিংস অ্যারেনা’ উদ্বোধন করেন গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান আহমেদ আকবর সোবহান (তখন ফিফা এবং এএফসির স্বীকৃতি ছিল না)। এরপর ২০২৩ সালের ২ জুন বসুন্ধরা কিংস এবং ঢাকা মোহামেডানের মধ্যকার একটি প্রিমিয়ার লিগের ম্যাচের দ্বিতীয়ার্ধ ফ্লাডলাইটের আলোতে অনুষ্ঠিত হয়।
ফিফা এবং এএফসির স্বীকৃতি অর্জনের পর ৩ ও ৭ সেপ্টেম্বর বাংলাদেশ ও আফগানিস্তানের মধ্যে প্রথম দুটি ফিফা প্রীতি ম্যাচ আয়োজন করে বসুন্ধরা কিংস অ্যারেনা।
বসুন্ধরা কিংসের আগমন সময়ের দাবি। মাত্র পাঁচ-ছয় বছরে মাঠের পারফরম্যান্সে ক্লাবটি ফুটবল ভক্তদের মাঝে যেভাবে সাড়া জাগিয়েছে এবং ফুটবলের মুগ্ধতায় অবদান রেখেছে তা লক্ষণীয়। বসুন্ধরা কিংস শুধু দেশের ফুটবলের চিত্র ও হাওয়াই বদলে দেয়নি, বদলে দিয়েছে দেশের ফুটবলের গল্পও।

The president of Kings asked the chairman of the group for only seven-eight bighas of land for the practice of the club’s team. Three hundred bighas of land has been given to build a sports complex there. Bashundhara Group chairman not only loves sports, sports is in his blood. The same applies to his sons. This is a big boon for the country’s sports scene.
The construction of the sports complex started in 2019. If everything goes well, the entire work of this complex will be completed next year i.e. December 2024. After that the activities of the academy will start. Three of Europe’s most famous clubs have already shown interest in franchising the academy. It is expected that after eight to ten years of opening the academy, Bashundhara Kings will form a team with their own players, and even sell the extra players to other clubs.
Bashundhara Kings played their first Premier League home match at their own arena on 17 February 2022. During the intermission of the match on the first day, the ‘Basundhara Kings Arena’ was inaugurated by the chairman of the group, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan (at that time FIFA and AFC were not recognized). Then on 2 June 2023, the second half of a Premier League match between Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Mohammedans was played under floodlights.
Bashundhara Kings Arena hosted the first two FIFA friendly matches between Bangladesh and Afghanistan on September 3 and 7 after receiving FIFA and AFC recognition.
